Commander's Emphasis Items
- Thank you to everyone who participated in the Hand County Search this week, and who sent moral support. The missing teenager, Wyatt Rowland, was found dead, he and his pickup having apparently gone into a slough along Highway 45 north of Miller. Thank you to everyone who was part of the maximum effort to find him. We are waiting for coordination on a more detailed news release/web story. Watch the wing social media feeds.
- News - ES Academy: Nearly three dozen dedicated members of South Dakota Wing, representing all squadrons plus wing staff, participated in an intensive Emergency Services Academy aimed at enhancing their emergency response skills. (Read more)
- Change of Command Spearfish - Lt Brett Runge assumed command of Lookout Mountain Composite Squadron during a ceremony March 7
- Maj Ben Shafer is the commander-select of Lincoln County Composite Squadron - The change of command is scheduled for the squadron meeting April 2.

- Region Cadet Leadership School: Only a few seats remain for the North Central Region Virtual Cadet Leadership School, August 12-18. Students attending RCLS should have completed an encampment and hold the grade of C/MSgt or higher. (Register)
- Moira Conley (SD-031) was named Ellsworth Air Force Base "Raider of the Week" on February 23
- Gin and Finley send thanks: SD Wing has received thanks from the owner of a horse that members searched for in 2023. The horse’s owner, Gin Szagola, was riding across the United States and was wilderness camping in Wind Cave National Park. The horse, Finley, got away in the middle of the night, pulling a long picket rope. (See postcard from Gin and read more)
- Wing Conference Registration Open. The 2024 SD Wing Conference is April 12-14 in Sioux Falls, with a tabletop SAR exercise also scheduled Apr 12 at the same location, the Ramada at 1301 W Russell St. This conference will be a great way to network and learn. It includes an all-member general briefing, strategic planning workshop, breakout sessions based on your interests, separate cadet sessions, and the big awards banquet. It will conclude with a Saturday evening dance.
