| SDWG has a new Spaatz Cadet! |
|
Keon den Hoed completed the requirements for the General Carl A. Spaatz Award and promotion to the rank of Cadet Colonel on September 28.
Keon is the 11th South Dakota Wing Spaatz Award recipient and the first since 2012.
The award presentation ceremony is scheduled for November 2.

- 2023 Quality Cadet Unit Awards. Four South Dakota Wing Squadrons have received the 2023 Quality Cadet Unit Awards - Rushmore Composite Squadron, Lookout Mountain Composite Squadron, Lincoln County Composite Squadron, and Sioux Falls Composite Squadron. The award requires the incorporation of six of a more extensive set of criteria into the unit cadet program, representing a well-rounded and dynamic program for cadets.
- Pierre SAREX. Final planning is underway for the next SDWG SAREX, in Pierre Nov 3-5. The SAREX will have three operational periods - Saturday morning, Saturday Afternoon, and Sunday Morning. The ICP will be at the Pierre City Transit Building, 1600 E. Dakota Avenue. Meals will be on your own. Bivouacking will be at the Community Bible Church, 1516 N. - New Finance Supplement. A new wing supplement to CAP's national finance regulation has been approved. The supplement includes local procedures for compliance with the national regulations, including procedures for requesting funding from wing accounts. (Read the supplement)

- ES Academy. SDWG members gathered in Sioux Falls on October 14 for continuing training for CAP’s operational missions. This academy focused on aircrew and drone team skills. (See photos)
- The 2024 Joint Dakota Encampment is accepting applications for the position of Cadet Commander. Interested cadets should forward their letter of intent and resume to Troy Krabbenhoft at troy.krabbenhoft@ndwg.cap.gov no later than Saturday, October 28th, 2023 for consideration. (Read more)

-- Lincoln County Composite Squadron for serving at the recent Gold Star Family event, the White Cane Walk, and the Sioux Falls Career and Technical Education Academy Career Days.
